cocktail hour

martini, 4×6in, acrylic on panel

it’s friday – if there was ever a reason for cocktail hour. compared to my first shot at a martini last year, this one’s a little less defined – and i’m not entirely sold on the ellipses at the base – but i feel like i’m getting more air, and more light, into the space of the picture.

these 2 will be at the kickoff of the 103rd Annual Little Pictures Show & Sale at the Providence Art Club this sunday. (more at bottom)

also this weekend, the folks at Charlestown Gallery will have some of my work (as part of their stable) at the Boston International Fine Art Show. 40 other galleries will be at the show – i’m esp. looking forward to the originals at Arcadia Fine Arts from NYC. it’s a chance to see some art in the South End & mangiare in the North End – not bad weekend at all.

speaking of Italian food – grazie to gilly for the brokering the commish & making the fine photo of the vino painting above.

you express the wonder and beauty and a little of the mystery of every-day wonders. I love them all! Thanks for keeping me in the loop. G

Shawn, I also like the martini glass without the red bottom and napkin. It really puts the focus on the cocktail itself without getting distracted by other stuff. Of course, I’m a martini fan and those three olives look delectable. But I think it’s a stronger painting.
