sweet news for the holidays

mini carrot cake, 6×6in, acrylic on panel

the mini carrot cake is about to make its debut in Newport, RI tonight.

Cottage & Garden, a shop filled to the gills with unique home & garden decor…antiques…and, for the holidays, 20ish of my food paintings. we dropped 3 last week and 2 are already gone – so while it might seem a little unconventional , it also seems like a great fit.

several works will also be ’round the corner at Tastemaker (Cottage & Garden’s sister store) along side the featured artist, acclaimed Providence painter Ruth Dealy. all the details are at the bottom of the post.

and now for the icing on the…cookie.

Drop in and Decorate is, in the words of lydia walshin of ninecooks, a simple concept: bake some cookies, invite friends or family (or neighbors, or co-workers) to drop by and help decorate, then donate your cookies to a local food pantry, emergency shelter, senior center, lunch program, or other community agency serving neighbors in need.

i’ll fess up – lydia’s also partner in Will Paint For Food…and the new logo above is my work.

it’s a fantastic way to give for the holidays. learn how to host a party, or buy a kit, here.

for the opening tonight:

Cottage & Garden
Antiques and Unique Gifts
9 Bridge St. Newport, RI 02840
Tel: 401-848-8477
thru Dec 30th; Reception Thurs Nov 8th 6-8pm

dir – if you’re coming into town via the Newport bridge/138, Bridge st is the light on America’s Cup Ave just before the baseball field & visitor’s center – make that left and the shop is about 2/3 of the way down on the left.
