iced coffee, Last Hurrah sale & celebration

iced coffee, 8×10in, acrylic on panel -sold-

iced coffee in winter may sound strange, but in new england but it’s a year-round craving. (and more likely seen in a cup with a hot pink and orange logo.)

i’m still playing catchup a bit – all last week i was introducing life drawing to high school students here.

and…we’re taking inventory on works that are just coming back from December shows…and ravamping all 3 sites (which I’m hopin will be done soon and allow for MUCH easier navigation.)

but the BIG news – for now – is that i’m moving my studio. (not for good, just to a new location. but more on that later)

as a celebration, and thank you for the wonderful run, we’ve decided to open our doors for one last hurrah next tuesday night from 7 to 9ish. (yep, it’s me, in true last-minnit fashion. does that surprise anyone?)

if you’re in the area, stop by for some cake and a beer…or something along those lines – maybe some artwork, too?

Doggin it

dog bone, 4×6in, acrylic on panel

while the year ended with a bang – rafts of work going out to the door to meet gallery commitments , last minute commissions – 2008 started out with a whimper.

I’d hoped to use the last week of december downtime to catch up on the blog – made a list, planned a proper New Year’s post/recap – HECK, even started the work below – but instead got sick as a dog. after basically 2 months of little sleep and lots of adrenaline, i was out of gas.

problem is – things still keep a rollin along, even when you’re on the couch rewatching Ratatouille and waiting for your voice to come back (i sounded like super dave osborne for a week)

time to dig out:

last weekend, i juried Seeing White at Gallery 297 in Bristol, RI.

i also got rejected for a show i entered. (last year, it happened a lot…hopes high, read the list of accepted works, swear a little, shake head, have a drink.) it’s part of the gig – and for further reading, artist jason brockert has a great post about it here.

Dutch Oven, 8×10in, acrylic on panel

on the flipside:

this past weekend, the dutch oven was awarded an honorable mention at the providence art club’s annual members’ show. the show’s up until Feb 1st.

and…tonight/tuesday i’ve been invited to speak as part of a panel for RISD’s Art of Business 2008 program.

whew. got more up my sleeve, but that’s it for now.

happy (belated) new year, Peace on Earth, & Goodwill to Man’s Best Friend -
